Man Finds God, And It's Not 'Doctor Who'

The Wiltshire, England man became obsessed with the series, collecting a huge Dalek, a pair of Cybermen, a model of K-9 the robotic dog, and he even spent two years building his own version of the Tardis.

The thing is that White later decided that it was religion that was missing from his life, and there wasn't enough room for both God and The Doctor, so the 900-year-old Timelord has to go.

White is selling his "Doctor Who" collection on the Internet, and is hoping to pick up £7,000, or nearly $14,000 for the whole lot so that he can make room in his house for a Bible. And White is serious, telling the Wiltshire Times that "Doctor Who" is the "greatest lie that Satan ever told." Harsh.

White said he retired from Royal United Hospital 10 years ago because of a bipolar disorder, and when he did that, he picked up a number of bad habits along the way.

"I turned to drink and became and alcoholic, and the 'Doctor Who' obsession was the only thing that kept me going," he said. "I wouldn't have given it up if you'd have put a gun to my head."

It might not have taken a gun to get White away from "Doctor Who," just a little dose of Jesus.

"God delivered me from the evil that is 'Doctor Who,' materialism and alcoholism," White said. "Through my relationship with Jesus, I saw that none of this was making me happy and I was born again like Lazarus."

Except Lazarus never had to give up his life-size Tardis or find something else to do on Saturday nights when "Doctor Who" is on BBC to earn rebirth.

"I wanted to tell others that no matter what trouble you are in, God can deliver you from the evil," White said. "If you are prepared to have a relationship with him, then God can help. I can been resurrected. My old life is dead, my new life is alive."

Don't tell White, but "Doctor Who" returns for its fourth season April 5 on BBC, and later this spring on the SciFi Channel.
